The latest round-table to be hosted by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) demonstrated the continued commitment of stakeholders to ensure that essential oils – in particular lavender essential oil – are registered under REACH by 2018.
The discussion, which was held under the patronage of Eric Andrieu, Member of the European Parliament and Vice President of the Committee on Agriculture, identified that three projects previously deemed key to resolving particular issues with the registration were on track to being solved in everyone's best interests.
July 2013 a new EU regulation (number 1223/2009) replaces the previous
Cosmetics Directive in order to ensure that consumers’ health is protected by
monitoring the labeling and composition of cosmetic products. But what does

will monitor a few different areas of the manufacturing process including
labeling, the use of restricted substances, safety testing and reports,
notifying relevant authorities and traceability.
